Janissaries scared of light horse?

Post by Robert241167 »

Well as a run up to Britcon today I faced Roger Greenwood and his Khazars to give me a practice against shooty-mounted.

Everything was going well and I was pressing his lighter troops back and got my janissary bowmen in a position on the flank of his cavalry who were thinking of charging my Qapu Khalki to their front. To give his cavalry a chance Roger charged my janissaries in the flank with his single BG of light horse. After impact and melee he had disrupted my janissaries but I was happy as it meant his light horse had to stay in combat and give me the chance to break them. 2 further rounds of melee and my janissaries were broken and fleeing with light horse in hot pursuit.

I hope this isn't a sign on how they perform at Britcon next weekend. :(

On another note I went on to win the game and my other BG of janissaries gained revenge by holding off a combined charge by a BG of bow armed cavalry and a BG of lancer cavalry. Both BG's had to break off and the janissaries shot the BG of bow armed cavalry to broken which took another BG of bow armed cavalry to broken too as a result to finish the game.

The consolation for Roger is it is not his Britcon army!

I broke a BG of Mr Dalbys Jans in competition with a 6 of lf and a 4 of lh. Shooting alone.

Cry me a river.

All true! And I had an IC and rear support.

The best bit was when they were shot to fragmented and were charged by the 4 LH. I was uphill in broken ground, still with the IC - and they still ran away!

The only consolation was that they rallied before the end of the game.

The odds against it must have been phenomenal. Its by far the worst I've seen anybody's Janissarries perform.

Roger would like to point out that this was his first game with the Khazar army. It won't be so easy next time.

I've managed losing a BG of 8 steady armoured immortals to a BG of 2 Triarii before. In one bound, of course. Which is quite clever when he has to beat me 2-0 to double drop me...

Had six armored han foot with inspired commander and rear support shot up by four light horse with bow... went down three turns in a row... was not expecting that.
