Cant Run Spartan

Post by general_557 »

I am trying to run Spartan on a Intel Celeron D 2.66 with an Intel Extreme 2 graphics card. My OS is Windows XP home edition. I get to the loading screen with the meter and it sits there for some time before closing and stating that Spartan encountered a problem and I can send a report. I have read the FAQ and I deleted the movies file and double checked I have direct X. I would really appreciate and advice on how I may solve this.
Thank you

Sorry you are having problems. Can you let us know which version you have - i.e. where you bought it.

If you have a US version by Graphsim & the disk will not load it is probably due to an over zealous copy protection system on the CD's provided by Macrovision. Please download this update to fix the problem. Its only 2.2MB and can be found at http://www.graphsim.com/spartan/Spartan-Patch.exe

Emulation help
We have had some queries about how to make Spartan work when running CD emulation software. Well unfortunately that's not possible as the whole point of the copy protection is to prevent this You must disable all emulation software before playing Spartan. For full details of how to do this please download the CD Emulation help file from safe disc from http://www.slitherine.com/spartan/SafeDisc_Help.zip

If this info does not help please send a mail to bugs@slitherine.co.uk with your machine specs and we'll get you up and running as soon as possible.

My version was bought in Canada and is from Graphism. I clicked the link you gave me but it is saying it cant find the site. I just got off work so I will get you my specs by tommorow (April 04). If you get a chance post what specific info you need and that way I can ensure you get all the information you require. However, i tihnk I may not have been clear in my explaination. Just incase, I can install the game but cannot load the game for playing afterwards.
I really appreciate your advice because Ive played it on my old computer and can no longer play it on my new one.

Hi Kibeth - it looks like the file has been removed. I'm checking with Graphsim about it. They are the only ones who have a copy of the patch. You could also try contacting them directly, and I will continue to chase them.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
