HELP: Things to be Added to the Online HELP

Post by Blathergut »

I thought maybe we could start this and see if there is anything that we would suggest be added/explained in HELP.

1. Explanation of major defeat in combat. What constitutes a major defeat?

2. Explanation of the nearer you are to a commander the better your chances of rallying. Just how does this work? Do I have a better chance of rallying at 2 hexes away than 4?

3. Explanation of DAG letters: S, PD, M.

Added #3: Explanation of DAG letters: S, PD, M. How they work.

My best guesses at answering these, but they do need to get updated/clarified in the released help:

1) Major defeat = suffering 2 or more casualties than inflicted in that combat. Nothing to do with % loses.
2) Distance from commander makes no distance as long as you are within command range of the commander. For combat and rallying/bolstering the range is 1 hex so you must be adjacent or in the commander's BG. For all other Cohesion Tests you must be within the number of hexes specified for that commander, e.g. 3 for TC, 5 for FC and 8 for IC.
3) S = has alternate deployment type. Most often dismounted. Hovering over S shows the alternate troop type they can be deployed as.
PD = Portable Defenses, e.g. stakes. Clicking PD toggles between troops with/without the PD. These are defenses that may be deployed during movement and are helpful against most mounted opponents.
M (I don't remember at the moment.)

M = Mixed BattleGroups

As far as commander range, it does mention in HELP that "the closer you are" the better. This I don't think is explained anywhere. Whether it means adjacent or not adjacent but in command range or 2 hexes is better than 4 I also don't think is explained anywhere.

Thanks for explaining M. I'm pretty sure that "the closer you are is better" is a red herring and should be removed.

In my experience, being close to a leader has a negative effect unless you're adjacent to the router's rear.

I agree that it likly isnt true, after all the bonus 's given are +1, +2 for being in range of an reg/inspire leader, getting additional bonus's in various range bands would add up to the point that it would be impossible to fail a check.
