Mac Version Problems

Post by Tblake »

Hi - I just ordered FoG and the 3 expansions (Mac versions for all). I was supplied with version 1.28 and am having the following problems with my installation:

1. I was able to activate the ROR and SOA expansions but the serial number I was supplied for IF is rejected.

2. I am unable to update to 1.31. When I click the Get Update button from the Main Menu a dialog indicates that version 1.31 is available. When I click the "Get the Update" button I get a dialog which states "Sorry, could not update because there were no applicable patches". I am running Mac OS 10.5.8 on the machine I'm trying to update. I have another machine that is running 10.6.4 that I can try tonight to see if the results are similar.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated!

Sorry you are having problems Tom. It seems to be effecting a small % of users and we're looking for a fix. Unfortunately we don't have one yet and we are planning to get it out on Monday.

For now if you can try on another mahcine it might help.

We think the issue is one related to yoru connection. I assume you're on a wireless network? It migth be worth trying to plug a network cable in if you have one available as this woudl probably fix the issue, but we'll be working to make sure you dont need to do that.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the other machine tonight and let you know. The machine I've been trying to use is a MacBook Pro on a wireless network running 10.5.8. The other machine I will try tonight is a Mac Pro running 10.6.4 with a direct Ethernet connection.

To help us with our testing of our fix for this can you confirm:

1) Your Mac Model.
2) Your OSX version
3) Are you downloading via wireless or cable.
4) If wireless have you tried a cable connection.

Thanks
Keith

Hi,

Answers to your questions:

1) Your Mac Model. - MacBook Pro 4,1 (2.5 Ghz Intel) w/4 gb ram
2) Your OSX version - 10.5.8
3) Are you downloading via wireless or cable. - both
4) If wireless have you tried a cable connection. - yes

I understand why I can't activate IF now - looks like it requires version 1.30 and I was supplied 1.28. I'm sure my serial number will work when I can apply the 1.31 update. I will try the update tonight on a Mac Pro (2008 model) running 10.6.4 that has a wired internet connection.

Same exact result on my Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008 model) w/6 GB RAM running 10.6.4 and a direct ethernet connection. Can a downloadable patch for 1.3.1 be posted? I hope this issue has priority as I am unable to access multiplayer or activate my copy of IF until this is resolved!

Thanks,

Tom
