Historicon 2010 15mm Steppe v. Civilization theme results

Post by babyshark »

When I put this Theme together I was concerned that no one would bring a Civilized army, and that I would be scrambling to balance the numbers in that direction. In the event it happened exactly the other way around, and all my floaters played on the steppe side. Regardless, it all worked out, which is all that an organizer can hope for in the end. I really enjoyed the concept, and hope to do something like it again at next year's Historicon.

The Civilized peoples won the event, turning back the ravening hordes from their goal of ruthless plunder (by just over 50 points, which is--I am afraid to say--pretty much the margin I gave them with my 25-0 loss to Harvey Harmon in round 3). Harvey Harmon was the best Civilized player, and Ethan Zorick the best from the Steppes.

Thomas Demers of Mad Monkey Painting was kind enough to create two dioramas for us to use as prizes, both suitable for use as baggage in future games. Mike Kelley took home the prize for the Steppe player who sacked the most camps, winning a tie break over Ethan because he looted a fortified camp (on the first try, with mounted). Dale Shanek took the prize for the Civilized player who killed the most Steppe generals.
