EARLY ZHOU CHINESE

Post by JFAS »

Hi to all
I was thinking of Early Zhou Chinese

From 700 BC

4x TC
2x4 Hch (sup/bow/und)
1x6 Mf (Off sp/Arm/avg/drill)
2x6 Lf (bow/Poor)
2x8 MF (imp/sw/prot/avg/und)
1x8 (4+4) Mf (prot/poor/Hvw/bow/und)
4x6 (3+3) Mf (arm/avg/Hvw/bow/drill)
1x8 Mf (poor/bow/unp/undr)

all comments welcome

I think that is solid except I am not sure you need to poor MF units especially not both. I'd drop the 8 unit and buy another LF poor. Or beef those up to 8s. or both.

the list only gives 18 LF (poor)
and you have to take 8 Mf (poor/bow) & 8 Mf (poor/Hvw/Bow)

I think you have a problem with number of archer elements versus number of HW elements (as neither can outnumber other by more than 2 to 1) - and (assuming memory serves) all the LF bow count as archer elements for this. I also think one of the TCs has to be an ally.

I've tried the army a couple of times and have problems with co-ordinating undrilled HCh with rest of arrmy, limit on number of sub-generals, and finding something for poor MF bow to do that keeps them safe. The best bits are the MF Arm troops (mixed HW, bow).

Hence I much prefer the Warring States army - foot and mounted (inc. superior chariots) are drilled. Lots of Armoured MF - with HW for beating infantry and XB for keeping mtd honest.

Regards,

Gavin
