Cossack cavalry
We still have the Cossack cavalry classified differently in different lists.
Are we near a decision on them?

Which lists were you thinking of - some differences may be deliberate, others not ...

Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
Early Russian
to name but three.
If the differences are deliberate, they need to be justified in the troop notes.
Also can we make a decision on Bow*, Light Lancers, Swordsmen classification. I am inclined not to do it, as there is no equivalent for the Carbine boys.
The annoying thing is that, had we realised about the Cavalry Pistol dice thing, we could have had Border Reiver Cavalry as Pistol, Light Lancers, Swordsmen and they would have shot as if Pistol*. Doh.

Re: Cossack cavalry
Well the Russian ones are correct in that they match the option available to the Cossacks in their own list at the dates the Russian list covers.rbodleyscott wrote:Cossacksnikgaukroger wrote:rbodleyscott wrote:We still have the Cossack cavalry classified differently in different lists.

Poles may well be different - I'll look into it.
A reasonable point IMO. In which case we have a choice of going with no Bow* or, I suppose, having a Carbine, Swordsmen option as well as Light Lancers, Swordsmen/Pistol option for the Cv types. Also can we make a decision on Bow*, Light Lancers, Swordsmen classification. You mentioned previously about expecting a draft of T&T back - is there an opportunity to change them, or would it be too messy and risk introducing errors? The annoying thing is that, had we realised about the Cavalry Pistol dice thing, we could have had Border Reiver Cavalry as Pistol, Light Lancers, Swordsmen and they would have shot as if Pistol*. Re: Cossack cavalry
Well then there is still the issue of the Crossbow ones getting 3 dice per 4 bases as well as full Lancers and Swordsmen capability, so I think we should probably stick with what we have.nikgaukroger wrote:You mentioned previously about expecting a draft of T&T back - is there an opportunity to change them, or would it be too messy and risk introducing errors? The annoying thing is that, had we realised about the Cavalry Pistol dice thing, we could have had Border Reiver Cavalry as Pistol, Light Lancers, Swordsmen and they would have shot as if Pistol*. That would be acceptable IMO.nikgaukroger wrote:A reasonable point IMO. In which case we have a choice of going with no Bow* or, I suppose, having a Carbine, Swordsmen option as well as Light Lancers, Swordsmen/Pistol option for the Cv types.

No argument from me on that

OK, looked into it.
The Polish Cossacks were not the same as the ones covered by the Cossack list - they shared the name. The Polish spelling would be Kozak (sing) or Kozacy (pl) so perhaps we should use that? The Polish ones adopted firearms when mounted quicker than the others.
Do you want me to add something to the list notes next time I have a full document, or do you want to do it?
