Merger with Matrix Games?

Post by MrsWargamer »

Just read an article thanks to wandering their forums.

Ok is this genuine?

I ask, because I consider it a good thing in some ways. But I must confess I am hesitant in others. Although the only reason I am hesitant is I am not comfortable with their forums. I'll be blunt, I don't find their forums even remotely adequately moderated. That's it in a nutshell I suppose.

I like their games and buy from them regularly, I like the sound of them adding their pluses to your pluses.
Strength in numbers and all that.

So I will shut up now and await a reply on the question :)

Yes - it's true :)

Rest assured that the communities both here and on the Matrix forums will see nothing but positive changes from the merger. And you'll still see the current Lizards keeping the peace around here - we value our communities too much to upset them.

Hope that sets your mind at rest ;).

Cheers

:) word is this news was planned for Monday :)

Welcome to the internet guys :)

I call this a good development. Matrix Games and Slitherine are today the only people I like to do business with.

Matrix Games understands HOW I want to buy my wargames, and Slitherine understands WHAT wargames I actually want to buy.

Matrix Games sells via download well, and Slitherine realises not all of us want to just wargame on a PC.

I call this great news indeed.

If I could hope for any sort of hope, it is that Slitherine puts the bug in David's ear and says, 'You know, some of your catalogue would look nice in a hand held game device'.

And gentlemen, I know you are not naive doofuses that have no market awareness. Those of us with handhelds, CAN play games sold as digital downloads. You don't 'need' those annoying retailers that won't give you shelf space.

On the Nintendo DS, they are called 'flashcarts' and they will run anything you put on them. The PSP is also a device that can run off storage media.
All you need to sell to me directly, is a desire to sell to me directly.

But you can't sell a game, till you have the game.

Grrr, from some of the comments over at Matrix Games, they seem to think Matrix Games is doing YOU a favour as if joining with them is something YOU needed.

I'm ok with the comments coming from Erik though. I think it is win win.

But I am mostly cheesed off by some of the wargamers.

I am more than happy just saying that there are altogether too many wargamers out there so #&(@ anal that they can't conceive of a wargame being capable of being put on a hand held and being any bloody good.

Not sure what they expect. I'll put Commander Europe at War up against anything and say it is an even contest.

I'm a hard core Steel Panthers fan, but I wouldn't need the entire friggin game ported over in one piece to be worth getting. Steel Panthers Blitzkrieg, Steel Panthers Africa, Steel Panthers Russia, Steel Panthers Normandy. Yeah, I'd be ok playing 4 separate games and paying for 4 separate releases.

I don't care if they can't put all of War in the Pacific on a hand held in one piece. They can always do it as they did in the beginning, Operation Watchtower. And maybe a few other key battles as separate releases.

Honestly I sometimes think too many wargamers have no idea of how to allow a company make a few bucks.
And if wargame publishers simply don't WANT to make a few bucks, why be in business right?

Expansion isn't a dirty word. Now AI, that's a term I'm ok spitting on.

I'm pushing 50 here, I want to sit in my lazyboy and maybe play a wargame in a comfy chair. My PC is a hair away from being nothing BUT a massive storage device and not meant for playing games on.

I'm too old to sit here all day playing MMOs, and I am too old to sit here for hours pushing computer card board.
When are the anal retentive amongst us going to get it.

Massive bloated mega detailed all inclusive must be on a PC wargames don't cut it much with everyone.
