Evades, shifting and drop back ?

Hello
When you want to evade and some friends blocks your path you can :
Shifting one base
Drop back bases (if these bases do not shift more than one width)

But can we do 2 options :
Shift + Drop back

And if it's permitted the first shift don't count for the drop back restriction's shifting ?

Or only ONE of these solutions ?

Page 67: "Provided that they do not shift more than one base width sideways, bases that connot get past an obstruction can be moved to the rear of those bases that have been able to complete the evade move."


I take this to mean other bases may be shifted to the rear IF AND ONLY IF a one base shift would allow such bases to clear obstructions. This can't be done if it takes BOTH a one base shift and THEN a move to the rear to get past an obstruction.

Each base could shift and drop back but no individual base can move more than one base width sideways however this is achieved.

The main occasion for a drop back and shift to happen is when a BG is offset from the gap it has to get through.

AA and BB are two BGs, cc,dd,ee and ff are the the bases of the evading BG. After evading you get

No bases of the evading BG have moved sideways more than one base width so this is fine.

Yes, that is what I thought I said you could do and what I showed in my ASCI diagram.

The important point is that no individual bases slide more than one base width.
