PLEASE DON'T POST IN THIS THREAD. THANKS.

Region - The number in brackets is the number of wins needed to pacify the area. Enemy victories are deducted from the current running total, which is the number after the dash. If you are the general who commands in the final battle, you get a bonus 5VPs (celebrating your triumph).

Italy (2) - minus 1 (Italian Rebels)
Cisalpine Gaul (2) - 1 (Gauls)
Transalpine Gaul (4) - 0 (Gauls). If Cisalpine Gaul is not pacified, defeated forces may be lost entirely.
Sicily (4) - at peace (Carthage)
Africa (3) - at peace (Carthage). Sicily must be taken to attack this region.
Macedon (6) - at peace (Macedonians). If Illyria is not pacified, defeated forces may be lost entirely.
Illyria (6) - minus 2 (Illyrians)
Hispania Ulterior (Lusitanians) (4) - at peace
Hispania Citerior (Celtiberians) (4) - at peace

Election Cycle

Voting for office holders will end at 0600GMT on the 5th and 20th of each calendar month. Please make sure you PM your votes by that time or they will be assigned randomly.

The new consuls and praetors will take office on the 10th and the 25th of each calendar month. This will give just over two weeks to each game year which should be plenty of time to resolve a battle or two.

Same as before. When you come to vote I need a list of four names in order: consul - consul - praetor - praetor. PM votes please.

Those currently holding office abroad may not stand in absentia (though Italy is not abroad). Anyone who has previously held the consulship may not be voted as praetor.

Those currently holding office abroad may not stand in absentia (though Italy is not abroad). Anyone who has previously held the consulship may not be voted as praetor.

Those currently commanding an army may vote, but will be able to muster only half their usual number of senators - the rest will vote independently. Those who are members of the same family each vote with half that family's senators.

Choosing an Army

A consul will receive forces amounting to 600 points, a praetor 400 points.

You choose your army up to your allotted maximum from the MID REPUBLICAN lists.

Your army may only contain as many Inspired or Field commanders as allowed by your faction. If two leaders from the same faction are in the field, they may each have the maximum of field commanders, but inspired commanders are the property of individual players and must be fielded by that player and cannot be used by faction mates.

No elephants. No allies. No Spaniards.

Please PM your opponent when you have issued the challenge. He'll need to know the password (republic) and that you're ready.

Fog of War must be ON. You may select terrain as you please unless I tell you otherwise.

No special rush to finish battles, but moving through as fast as you're comfortable with would be appreciated. PM results to me and also post a report to the senate in the forum. Thanks.

Victory points

Being elected consul gets your faction 5 victory points. A praetorship 2 victory points. Winning a battle gets you 2 victory points and will allow you to 'poach' senators from another faction. Losing a battle will cost you 1 victory point. Conquering a province (which I'll go into later but will require several battles) will gain you 10 victory points and, again, allow you to poach senators to support your faction. Negotiating a peace will net you 5VPs if the senate approves by vote. Otherwise you get nothing and war continues.

If there is more than one player in a faction, the votes controlled by that faction are evenly divided between the players. Independents will be swayed by especially bombastic, egotistical or moving forum posts.

The year of the consulships of Triarius and Claudius.

Deaths:

Claudius Panther - through drunken accident. Fell down the steps of the senate house and broke his skull.
Triarius Scipio - In the very moment of his triumph, leading his consular army against invading Gauls.
Lentulus Cunctator - captured and beheaded by the Gallic chieftan Deetorius.
Claudius George - killed in battle against the Illyrians.

Wars:

Following the deaths of Roman citizens, the consul Claudius was sent to chastise the Illyrians. He met with defeat but extracted the remnant of his army intact only to be surprised the following day; his army was slaughtered, the consul falling early in the battle. An utter disaster and the blackest day for Rome in many years.
The consular army of Triarius Scipio routed a host of Gauls at Forum Gallorum. Following the death of the consul, his legate, Metellus Strebe took command and was defeated by the Gauls.
The praetor Attius Maximus was defeated by Italian rebels. Aemilianus Caesar, acting with propraetorian authority bestowed by an emergency vote of the senate restored the situation, routing the enemy at Capua but was then heavily defeated, barely escaping the field with his life.
The praetor Lentulus Cunctator was defeated outside Massilia by Gauls. His head has been sent back to the senate. His men have been killed or enslaved.

Events:

consuls-elect for next year are Attius Maximus and Cornelius Lysimachos
praetors-elect are Lucius Cornelius Triarius Scipio and Claudius Hookton
