Is this overlap legal?

Overlap Question

Thinking of ways to use the ability of my Egyptian bowmen to interpenetrate axemen and came up with this idea!

L is two units of lancers that have charged B (MF bows), X is two units of axemen. On the left and right of the bow unit the lancers have moved forward and made contact with the two axe units.

Now my question is during the melee phase can the axe unit get a four overlaps on the lancers? Each of the lancers in contact with an axeman has an axeman to its left and right.

End result (assuming its legal), is that 4 lancers fights 12 axemen. The bow can still rout through the axe if needed, however there will be a lots of dice hiting those lancers.

In this situation the axemen will only get 8 dice fighting. The bases in contact and the bases outside them.

Check the overlap rules. A BG can only be ovelapped once on each end of the line. The axemen behind the bow are an 'internal' overlap so don't fight
