It seems archers etc. can shoot over Impassable ridges, even when Fog of War is active. Also, the hexes behind the ridges don't seem to be 'obscured'.
Shouldn't those ridges block Line of Sight? As it is now, they have the same effect as water...
I hope this will be taken care of in a future patch or supplement.

It depends why it is impassible.
I don't think it says impassible ridge (although the graphic looks like a ridge). It could be impassible because of a crevasse, or it could just be really dense scrub that is only a metre high, or relly thorny plants, e.g. Brambles, so wouldn't block LOS or obscure.
It is something for Slitherine to consider. If it is meant to be a high rocky outcrop, then it's a bug.

It simply says 'Impassable', but the graphic looks like a rocky outcrop to me.
What if you want to make a scenario with some impassable ridges, cliffs etc that block LoS?
As it stands now, the gameplay effect is exactly like that of a body of water...
Dense scrub or brambles may also be impassable (and not block LoS), but should get another graphical representation than cliffs in my opinion (or one could use water terrain to improvise in the meantime).

Just put the impassable terrain on top of a hill.Epicouros wrote:What if you want to make a scenario with some impassable ridges, cliffs etc that block LoS?
I agree that there should be various types of impassable terrain, just like we have two types of woods. However, I think it would be even more useful to have cities and walls/palisades.

But in the scenario editor there is no "ridge" terrain type, but an "impassable" type. If you want to make an impassable ridge, you just have to build a hill and then place the impassable terrain on top.
The system we have right now is thus more flexible, because it offers both the possibility of creating impassable ridges and impassable low-height terrain.
However, may be the image used for the impassable terrain is not the adequate one, or perhaps more than one image is need (which IMHO would be the best)
