Not a bad list, the infantry are very much a supporting cast though. The only thing they have is numbers.

As for the Huns I think you will find that three BGs of shooty cavalry is fine and you have them with the Equites.

Worth a go for sure.

and also making up the numbers for "averageness" so I don't go over the 1/3 superior troops.

Speed bumps and terrain holders at best.

Romans

why the FC. Not sure how it fits the doctrine.
in period the armies you are likely to have to deal with are sassanids (undrilled in period) huns picts palmyrans and other romans.
Huns are typical shooty cavalry and will be a reasonable match i think. Other romans will try and avoid your cavalry while fighting the auxilia with thier armoured version. Not sure how you fare against picts with lots of mf off spear.
Palmyrans and sassanids both have light horse and cataphracts to trouble you. You need luck to really trouble the cats.

Probably worth thinking how you fight each of those armies.

I remain unconvinced about the archers inthe foot battlegroups (1 die at at least -POA doesn't look like good value). In my army I tend to favour the Foot Foederate - Impact foot is quite good, especially with 4 stand BGs of Auxilia to back them up. I favour Heavy Foot for the Auxilia (and don't bother with Legionaries) and use the Armorican allies for a small command of terrain holding troops. I would keep the Huns as Light Horse as Unprotected cavalry can get in trouble (as can protected Lancers, hence my preference for the foot). I am considering having Visigothic allies as well, mainly for the LF archers.

My own Foederate/Romano-British Army is 25 mm though I have tried the Foederates out in 15 mm. The Cataphracts look interesting, though I tend to look at the Equites Taifali for the Heavy Cavalry. Against cavalry the foot will be equal at impact and then down in melee so do all you can to get through the Cohesion Tests. Your very late version could claim Zeno or Aetius as an IC (though I think the Foederate list is a better representation than Early Byzantine for Belisarius' campaigns in Africa and Italy) I think this is worth considering.

There are quite a few ways of building this army so I recommend experimenting with different organisations and see what you fell most comfortable with.

Their value is in being a cheap(ish) way to make the BG bigger - for an Average BG jumping from 4 bases to 6 makes them more survivable. Although for Protected, Average Auxilia you are only saving 2 points per base compared to haveing them as 6 bases of MF. IMO the shooting support they can give is irrelevant, and if they ever score a hit consider it a massive bonus :D

I agree with Nik, especially for the HF where the relative difference in cost is greater.

I don't need to think about them as I won't be playing in competitons just club games so i pretty much know what i'll be facing.
