No worries - there is no rush as far I am concerned. Just wanted to know to plan games around. Sounds like we either get one more game in, in which case we will swap armies and rules to see how the new rules work. Alternatively if not then we'll get another pair of games swapping just the armies. Might be too late to influence the new rules, but maybe something for the set after.

Well you could give them all 131 (or is it 133 now?) on condition that all armies are tested at least once before the end of the year
But seriously - could they have the Late Roman Republican list and somebody run a test game with maxiumum Elite legionarii against a mainly Average enemy? It would help me (at least) judge how many Elite troops may be reasonable in game terms.

We can certainly fight a game between two army lists that you provide (armies and not just the lists themselves). Drop me an email with the army lists (say 600pts) and we'll give it a whirl.
I wonder how it would work out on the table - my gut reaction is that the legionaries will rout average units, but the larger size of the average army will probably prevent a result in any meaningful time frame. Plus in all the games we have played no one has managed a flank contact, which is where I would say you have the only chance of beating better units. And we have been playing with a lot of cavalry.
