Hastati and Principes

In the Mid-Republican Roman list, why are Hastati armoured and Principes only protected, although in reality Principes were usually better equiped (chainmail) then Hastati (small breastplate)?

Also, according to viewtopic.php?t=15571, the up-/downgraded legion lists should be part of the limit, e.g. it should be able to create a Med Rep Roman army, that contains 8 Veteran Hastati & Principes, 2 Triarii and 4 Velites, but no standard legionaries...
Is their any way to create somthing like this?

The armored hastati and protected princpes was a mistake and its already solved on the recently released patch

Actually, the qualification for armor had nothing to do with the age class, it was a property qualification. If you were from a rich family, you got mail.
