Support, what does it mean?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched the manual and read a good bit of the forum. When two or three units are engaged against a single opponent and the interface flashes up "support" what is the actual effect of this in the game. This seems to me to be the biggest difference from the TT game. Three weaker units which combined their attacks and should take a single stronger opponent in the TT game in effect line up in turn to attack in the PC game and usually get beaten. Am I missing something?

I've also seen attacks which flash up support on other nearby units, but these can often be 3, 4, 5 or so, hexes away. They may have been units touching each other or attacking the same unit, at some point, but they certainly aren't when they are flashing the support icon.
Has anyone else seen this?

A supporting battle group in melee is defined (in the Combat Mechanism page of Help) as:
Not attacking or being attacked in the current combat.
Not routing.
Adjacent to a battle group that is attacking or being attacked in the current combat.
Each adjacent supporting enemy battle group reduces a battle groups attacks by one.
Not attacking or being attacked in the current combat.

This bit has me confused. There is only ever one BG attacking or being attacked in a combat. Why is it necessary to state this? At first I thought it meant "attacked or was attacked in the current turn" but that doesn't seem to be the case.Ironclad wrote:A supporting battle group in melee is defined (in the Combat Mechanism page of Help) as:

Or have I misunderstood?
Look at the melee arrows. They indicate units attacking or being attacked in melee.Retreat_in_shambles wrote:This bit has me confused.
