Big map of middle east

Post by penguinism »

I was wondering, has anyone acutually finished on the very large map of the middle east? Either the first one or the one with some developement in place to start with. I never finished the game because it took so ling and I lost interest.

I started out on east Turkey (something like Hittle) and conqured the Lavent and North part of Iran but then stopped.

The Grand Campaign

Post by honvedseg »

I've got two seperate grand campaign games (set on Hard) which have been sitting incomplete for months. On the one, I've got over 80 cities spanning an empire from the mouth of the Nile north to the middle of modern Turkey, across to the center of the mountain range formerly occupied by the Medes, north to the top edge of the map, and south to the middle of the Arabian peninsula. Aside from the Meshwesh occupying almost all of Egypt, and the Hill Tribes with almost everything east of the central mountain range, there are only a handful of small remnants of states (mostly in the NW and S of the map) which have yet to be gobbled up by the big three. At this point, cavalry hasn't even been developed. With over 80 cities to manage, a single turn has become a tedious affair, and I question whether I'll ever complete the game, even though I can pretty much waltz in and take any city I want. The trouble is, I then have to provide garrisons for the freshly conquered areas, as well as replace the occasional lost unit (which can happen when you fight against two or three large stacks in a single turn).

I have one enormous empire as the guys who start with on the saudi peninsula (the one city) I now control everything on the west, the top of egypt, and was working my way through syria and the scythians before getting bored. I have another two with nearly complete control over the north (hittie and the hill guys), and a third which, while not huge, controls ALL of the forts in southern egypt- yes, that includes the skeleton warriors.

Mostly I stick to small games now.
