Mongols 25mm or 1/72

Post by Derdertkd95 »

Does anyone know of any cheap Mongols in 25mm or 1/72 scale? The plastic ones out in 1/72 are pretty lacking as they are mostly infantry/heavy cavalry without bows, so they end up being pretty expensive for the usable figures.

Thanks,
D

While there are a lot of sets of plastic Mongols on the market having looked at them on PSR I can see your point.

If you have to go to metal figures you will not be getting cheap even though you will probably be getting some nice mniatures.

I don't think there are even any Mongols on the way from the hard plastic manufacturers either :(

Wish I could be more help.

I have seen your point too. Have you considered using some of those infantry miniatures as commander or standards, officers, musicians? That way you can enlarge the units. Another option is trying to build a home made bow and put it on their back. From here and there you could enlarge the bowmen units that way.

Here bowmen are the half:

Are all the infantry units just wasted? I haven't seen the Mongols list quite attentively, but, if I remember properly, some can be used. Even you can consider using your remaning miniatures for other armies. Just an idea... What is certain is that plastic will be way more cheap. Calculate around 2 euros per miniature more or less in 25mm, varying on the manufacturer.

Most of the plastic cavalry are as good as most metal Mongol figs.

Which Mongol army do you plan on building? (admittedly, I'm not up to speed on the lists). the Zvezda and Italeri Mongol cav (the Italeri 'mongols' set is less useful) are good (Italeri Chinese cav is a very useful set as well) and the Orion Khazars are handy. Mongol infantry would be dismounted cavalry so you are looking for subject infantry (Chinese, Korean, Muslem) for the fewer battles they did feature in. Chinese infantry is harder to get but the Redbox Chinese and Korean, Imjin war figs can be used.
