Aztec army (many pics!!)

Post by Heresy »

Hello! I'm new to the forum!.

I present you my Aztec or Mexica proyect. I've used 15mm miniatures from Gladiator Miniatures (Blackhat miniatures). I decided use 5 miniatures by base because In my opinion, the aztec army was a horde army!, so I want realism!.

Comments, suggestions, criticism, etc are welcome!.

Where did you get the pyramid in the background? I was thinking of making a small sacrifice strewn one for my Camp

That is splendid work Heresy! I have never seen better in 15mm. I like the fact that the figures are very colorful, but rich rather than gaudy.
Truly beautiful work on very nice sculpts.

Are all of these minis from Black Hat (xGladiator)?

After being stunned by the beautiful job you did on these minis, my dazed mind wandered back to your text asking for comments and criticism.

I see only one thing that might be improved - and it might NOT be an improvement if it makes the stand too busy visually.

The large, broad, tropical leaves on the ground are a splendid touch - I never would have thought of these. They might be brought forward a bit visually if here and there on the edges there is some yellowing, brown edges or insect damage. I remember from livig in the Phillipines that the large, soft, fallen leaves could go from bright green to solid brown in 24 hours.

I am just in awe of these minis though. I am critiquing what I cannot equal, to be bluntly honest.

I bought it in a pet shop (for a tank) by 15€ and mide 25cm hight, but is only half of a pyramid. Another pic (click to enlarge):

Your opinion are welcome!. I like to see that you think these "leaves" are leaves! (some friends thought in snakes ...)!. Indeed, "in vivo" the leaves are more brown, because I apply lights with green + ochre!. Anyway, maybe I apply other light at the edges!

Adios!

Top notch stuff. Great painting. Not my era but tempted after seeing that lot and watching Apocalypto last night!

Great work!

They make my painting of the exact same minis look dumpy in comparison. :(

Two fish in their tank.

One turns to the other and says

"How do you drive this?"
