Charging through friends

Post by deadtorius »

Noticed something today in a game with the Indians vs Alexander, that one of my chariots went off and charged through friends to contact a unit of LF.
Now in the TT rules shock troops do not have to test to charge if they will burst through friends and the only enemy in charge range is lights.
IF that had been a unit of pikes or cav, then it might not have been so bad but just to chase off some lights......
any chance you guys could look into this some time?
Thanks

My best in that scenario was an Indian chariot at the rear of a column of three charging through the two chariots between it and the enemy. I don't remember at this point if it was enemy LF but most likely it was based on where the Macedonians usually move in that scenario. Another memorable one of mine was a cataphract unit that broke off from the Roman legionaries it was fighting on one turn. On the next turn, rather than charging the same legionaries where it would not have had to interpenetrate, it instead charged through its commander (another cataphract unit) in order to charge into a different Roman legionary BG. There is definitely something rotten in the auto-charge rules in the PC game.

I always find you have to keep an eye on Alexander as I have had him go of through his own troops on more than one occasion and more than one scenario. Hard to keep a rash general in line, now what kind of example is he setting for the rest of the army??
