Trouble with 1.03 patch on Vista machines

Just purchased FoG yesterday and cannot get the 1.03 patch to install on either of my two Vista machines. The game loads fine and plays but when I try to apply the 1.03 patch I get 'decompression' errors and the game program no longer works. Everything works fine with the 1.02 patch.

When I installed on an XP machine everything is fine.

Any ideas since I cannot access multiplayer with only 1.02?

That is very odd. Have you tried re-downloading the patch, it might have failed to download correctly.

Are you running a restricted (i.e. non-administrator) account on your Vista machines? Also, are you running any virus scanner which might look at something trying to rewrite EXE files as being a potential problem and block them from being written, so you might want to try disabling virus scanners when doing your patch install.

Okay finally got it. I was running as the Administrator but needed to turn off User Control AND run the 1.03 patch from a right click as "Run as administrator'......

What a pain in the @ss Vista can be.

Had the most problems on my Laptop with Vista Home Premium. Work computer with Vista Business was not quite as bed.........
