Matt emulsion. Goes on a dream. Loads of shades but 3 in particular match the Baccus basing system to a 'T'. Come in 75ml pots (compared to a GW pot of 12ml). And 3 for less than £3.

If there was a Wilkinson's locally I would take a look.

FWIW Dulux matt emulsion can be mixed to any colour you want (I use Wicker Dreams 1). 250ml costs less than £3 so much the same as the ones you are talking about.

Buying expensive modeling paint and then using it for basing is not a good economic move IMO.

Our brands are different on this side of the pond, but I agree - cheap craft paints for terrain/basing is definitely the way to go!
