Chariots armour

Post by wkeyser »

Hi all
We are playing a series of games with Hitites and New Kingdom Eygptians. My question is about Chariots, what armour if any are they considered to have. And are chariots concidered to be mounted troops. This will apply to the fall back after attacking infantry if they remain steady? It will also apply to POA as far as mounted defeating MI or LI?

Thanks
William

Better armour does not count against El, Chariots, Art. Bwgs.

They are mounted.

Armour has no effect in hand to hand combats involving chariots, or elephants. They are never better or worse armoured than their opponents.

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

We made a design decision not to differentiate chariot armour. Most of them were in fact fairly well armoured, but they were a complex system and not really directly comparable to other troop types. We deemed that going into detail on chariot armour would give spurious detail that would not add to the accuracy of the simulation.

Thus they don't get armour advantage against anything, and nothing gets armour advantage against them.

And yes, they do count as mounted troops. (See the The Basics section of the rules).

Thanks for the quick answere kind of what we thought. I actualy like the feel of the chariots, not cav but fast moving and can be hard hitting. I also like the evade with my new kingdom lt chariots and fire at the enemy chariots if I am lucky I will fragment!.

Thanks and really looking forward to the Renaisance version, love the Italian Wars.

I don't think LI take a minus for lossing to mounted as they are already disadvantaged by the loss of dice.
It only MI in the charge and on CT's after lossing melles that take a minus.

Is this correct?

The modifier in the chart is only for MF.

Impact: Mounted (Except Elephants or scythed chariots) get a +POA in open against both MF and LF
CT: only MF get a -1 for losing close combat against mounted (and against HF)
