Parthian Bow
The Parthian bow was a composite bow, more powerful than those used in Ancient times by other troops, I wonder if that could be made a new different weapon, if not now, at least for a patch in which armies of later periods are added, although it will make the present battle of Carrhae a better one to play.

I would actually assume any troops using "bow" from 1500 bc onwards are using composites (or bows of equivalent effectiveness) as that is when they came into widespread use in the middle east. The Achaemenids and Scythians made widespread use of them, by which time the technology would have spread to Europe.

I really don't know how extended was the use of the composite bow, but I think it really doesn't matter for the topic being discussed here
I mean: there is little doubt that some "units" were more efficient than others in the use of bows. So in the same way that we have skilled swordsmen, we could have skilled bowmen.
Anyway, we probably won't see a change like this in the near future, since the developers have stated that they don't want to deviate too much from the TT rules (which is a good thing in my opinion).

It is written in the TT rules. I do not think the help covers it but if youare viewing combat details that show die rolls, you will see things like 1R6 showing a re-roll.Donegal wrote:Is it written in the rules?Superior troops re-roll 1's in combat, Elites re-roll 1&2's, and Poor troops re-roll 6's. So troop quality will increase or decrease the average number of hits.

IN the TT rules bow* is a given to units that are only partially armed with bows. They are based as normal medium, heavy, cav etc units but shoot as LF for dice, which would be one for every two stands. Not sure how this would be handled in the PC game other than they should only be shooting with 2 dice per combat as opposed to 4 or whatever it is the MF bow get in the game.

The way to do this in the PC game would be to have them impact and melee as normal but have each BG shoot as if it was a skirmisher, e.g. only two attacks for shooting and no extra impact dice for support shooting.deadtorius wrote:IN the TT rules bow* is a given to units that are only partially armed with bows.
