Is it me or is this game wayyy to easy?

I'm no tactical genius. I haven't really read the rules and pretty much just send whatever is around after whatever is there, yet I consistently trounce the AI on "Favor AI." I suppose that means I need to move up to "strongly favor" but I cant imagine how easy this game must be for someone who knows the rules and really takes advantage of them.

I think it depends on the scenario. Some are much easier than others against the AI, and on "strongly favour" AI some really give a good game. Unfortunately, I can't remember which, but if you work your way through them you'll be pleasantly/unpleasantly surprised at some point.

Try the online multiplayer if the AI is lacking.

Yes the AI is lacking. Like you I just muddled through and was easily defeating it without any real thought, not very satisfying at all. There didn't seem to be any reason to even bother with the rules. However, after a few games against the AI I tried MP and now I am *thinking* and reading the rules!! Hopefully the developers are successful and can expand all aspects of this game, AI included.

I agree the single player game is way too easy and I didn't buy this to play multiplayer. It would appear they just threw some numbers in there for an ai and expected everyone to buy it for the multiplayer element alone. I have deleted it from my hard drive it was a waste of $29.99 for a single player game as I should have guessed since all of the releases post Spartan/Troy have been less than fun in the single player department. Well except for Conquet:Medieval which I am enjoying the single player element in. At least I got to salvage some funds as I got $10 off of it from $19.99. So basically I got a decent game out of two for $39.99.

Any way I can sell my copy of Field of Glory? How would I go about doing that? I'll take $20 for it!!

It is not intended only for multiplayer. I play mostly single player, but do agree multiplayer ie excellent. Have you tried any of the custom scenarios or designing any scenarios yourself? These cannot currently be played in multiplayer.

The AI is being worked on and we have some ideas for how to make it better but we didn't want to break things so they are only in internal QA at the moment so if you're not happy I'm sure you will be when the new improvements are available. We've been patching small fixes initially and the AI is too easy to break without proper testing so we were weaiting until the initial issues were resolved before taking the plunge on that one.

There is no way to sell on a digital download I'm afraid as the serial number is linked to your account.

If you're so sure its for multiplayer only is there a reason you haven't tried it? It's really as easy as playing single player but against a real opponent so no AI issues. It is not playing multiplayer in any other game you've played. It is the only game I play multiplayer at all as I generally find multiplayer games irritating and hard to get started. I'd suggest you give it one try and see how you feel.

Why is it honestabe that you go around sites slagging almost every game/company you find dissatisfaction with? You did the same thing on another forum before getting banned for who knows what, though not hard to imagine. Nothing measures up for you I take it. Why try to poison the well all the time?

It's way too easy if you play Romans as they're ridiculously over-powered in it, with cavalry capable of routing elephants or high-morale close-order spearmen in frontal charges, things no ancient heavy cavalry ever managed to do.

Because as my name implies I give "honest" opinions about how I feel about games. I will not sugar coat or candy coat anything. It seems that banning for giving negative opinions is a norm around the gaming world though (and then having to defend my opinion time after time from the bullies of the forums). Publishers and developers just don't like to hear the truth or fix things like they should be. If a game is good like HPS games I will say so. I thourough enjoy HPS ancients games. I abhor this one. It's ugly and the ai is worse. Plus Iain as many times as I've said I "don't like multiplayer" continues to PUSH it on me. I've also many times said Spartan is a great game that Slitherine made and I am now playing Conquest:Medieval Realms and I am also enjoying it.

As for the Wargamer and it's click groupies of SoM and Jarhead and Longblade and Gusington I really don't care. That's one underhanded group of people over there who say I must do one thing and not break the forum rules while they all four break them all the time. Gusington is the worst two faced liar I ever came to know. I sent him PM after PM asking him to stop SoM and Jarhead and Joram and Child of Corn from repeated insults and attacks against me in many threads and he did nothing and sided with them that it was ok in every pm.

But, I don't care to bring that stupidity over here and neither should you because it makes you just as bad as they are trying to cause trouble at another site on an old issue.

I don't care what computer game it is. No matter how good it is, an AI will NEVER be the same as playing against a human. Play against an AI long enough and eventually you will note it's habits and tendancies and you will beat it. Now that to me is boring.

In my opinion, an AI is only there to prepare one for gaming against humans. It is the friends one makes while wargaming that is where the real joy is. (Winning or losing. It doesn't matter.)

Too true. After a while, playing the AI is as challenging as clubing baby seals. FoG has a wonderful multiplayer system and some great players. That's the joy of of this game.

Most games with tough AI are actually:

1) cheaters = favored die rolls, and other benefits... You can do the same with FoG.
2) heavily scripted behaviour = good on a map-per-map basis but not flexible for custom maps and predictable after repeated play.

I just dont agree on the AI, I find it gives a good game on the harder settings and is getting better.

Have you tried it since it was patched?

On the multiplayer - the point is MP in FoG is very different to any other game you have played. I used to play C&C and FPS games but unless you are in with a group of peopel you know it became very tedious as there was cheating and bgenerally bad behaviour and it took too much time and effort to become part of a co0mmunity that was fun to play with. FoG doesn't have any of these issues. I dont play anything else MP except FoG. It really is worth a look even for people who never play multiplayer games. The only reason I'm pushing you towards it is because I'm pretty sure you'd like it!

We dont ban anyone for disliking a game and posting that. We do ban people for bad language, personal attacks or angry hevaviour. Just because you dont get banned - don't expect us to agree with you!

I am completely new to the FOG (aside from playing the Beta) but I have played my share of strategy games. I say that the AI is way better then most games I have seen. I am having quite a difficult time with some of the senarios and I am enjoying it greatly. I just can't wait till more armies will be released and more scenario's become available.
