Digitally downloaded spartan won't run

I downloaded Spartan from the Slitherine website digitally. The intro runs and then the game crashes and the "Program encountered error" message pops up. I may have screwed up the installation process somehow. Can I re-download the game and try again? (Don't want to pay again of course.) I have the e-mail from Softwrap with the liscense key but where do I plug that in?
P.S. I downloaded 1017 patch and now the game won't even run the intro and asks for "correct CD in the CD drive". Please help.

Sorry you are having problems. The patch you downloaded is the problem. The download version of Spartan does not require a patch, so you have patched it to be the CD retail version and this means it now thinks it requires a CD in the drive to run!

If you have the installer you downloaded, just uninstall the game, then reinstall the digital download and you should be fine as long as you do not apply the patch. Good luck and let us know if you need any more help.
