Multiplayer issues
So I have had the game for two weeks and until Saturday the Multiplayer did not work. I would select Multiplayer and the game would just try to connect and
nothing more would happen. Then on Saturday I did some snooping around ans found that the fognet.exe was not shutting down after I closed out the game and I had multiple copies of the program running. I stooped all of them and restarted my computer and the multiplayer worked fine, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I got home yesterday, Tuesday to play a turn and I could not get the game to work in the multiplayer mode. I was having the same problem as before and I was not able to correct the problem. So now there is a gentleman in London waiting for me to get the multiplayer to work. I hope you have some suggestions for fixing it as the game is very good and I like the multiplayer aspect of the game.
Thanks
Mark

I am now running 1.02 and I am still not able to use the multiplayer. My system is:
Running Windows 7 Premium
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2370 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz
RAM 2.50 GB
32 bit operation system
I am using a wireless router and BullGuard 8.7 Virsus Scan software.
Let me know if you need more data.
Thanks
Mark

Yes it has full access, when I fire it up the first time it asks if I want to run the fognet.exe and I give it full permissions. Like I stated earlier it worked great for 3 days, being Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of this past week.
Once the game starts I select multiplayer and it says it is staring the application. it does not give me the option to log in. Once I close the game I check the task manager and the fognet.exe is still running, I manually close it and try again. No luck.

Have you checked your anti-virus program?
It may have deleted some parts of the game thinking they were a virus.
Check your event log in your anti-virus.
Also u may find error text files describing the problem in C:Program Files:Slitherine:Fields of Glory.
Also are you running the game as Administrator?

I will get that to you once I get home from work. Sorry I forgot that data. I don't think that will have much
to do with me connecting to the Multiplayer game. Except for the multiplayer not working the game runs and plays great
I enjoy the single player but I want to get involved in some of these tournaments you are running.
Thanks

Uninstalling will not help. If you cannot play multiplayer then it is almost certainly your firewall. Remember you may have two or even three installed. Windows firewall, a firewall on your router and any maybe other firewall software you have installed e.g. Norton, that has not turned off the windows firewall. Only one needs to be blocking access. What ports need to be configured for multiplayer and are there any other special requirements for settings? I don't recall seeing these in the game help (but haven't really looked since I seem to have been OK.)keithmartinsmith wrote:Uninstalling will not help. OK here is the latest, I have deleted the bullguard and installed Nortans Symtantec antivirus. I turned off the fire wall for the new antivirus and still the multiplayer will not work, I took it a step further and turned off the windows fire wall and still nothing. The next step is to take the laptop and hook it up directlty to the internet by fiber and try it thatway. If that does not work then what shall I do?
I have a shotgun if that will help?
LOL
Have a great weekend.

Im afraid I cant help you out as im an IT mong.
