Mirlton Stradiots

Post by pcelella »

I just picked up some Mirlton Stradiots, and although I think they are wonderful figures, one of the two poses is a bow armed figure. The thing is, FoG rates stradiots as javelin armed, with no bows. I was thinking of cutting the bow off the hand of the figure, drilling the hand out, and inserting a javelin instead. Does this sound sensible? Should I instead simply use the figure as is and state to my opponent the figure is javelin armed, while putting one javelin armed figure and a bow armed one on a LH stand?

Hi Peter,
first of all I agree with you, they are wonderfull.
As I use this figures for other armies (for example Mirlinton Stradiots suit very well as Hungarian Szeklers LH or Albanian LH), my advice is not to cut off the bows.
I have some bases with bow and some others with javelins, so you can choose wat you need.
If you need some advice for painting them here are some photos:

Wow! Sergio - those look fantastic.

Now I'm going to have to order more figures if I'm not going to use the bow-armed figures as Stradiots (saving them for Szeklers).

Peter,
my advice is also to check Condottieri Kn's and Commanders (they are wonderfull) and Italian Communals (you can use them for many Feudal armies), except for Medievals 100 HYW from Corvus Belli I guess they are the best medieval figures in 15mm.
