Looking for Recommendations

Hello,

Saw a post today on Wargamer.com regarding this particular game. I thought I would investigate. The screenshots look good, but I'm wondering about gameplay since there is no demo and no reviews yet. It appears there is some decent feedback on the forum, albeit from a pretty small sample of players.

My usual game interest is WW2, however, I played Spartan way back so I presume there are some similarities. More recently I've casually played the Total War games Rome through Empire. Anyone care to give some additional insight into this game? Is it worth spending my paltry "allowance" on?

It is not really like any of those games. There is a campaign but it is an RPG style campaign. You take an army with you through multiple battles, levelling up and equipping them. You fight battles in real time with pause so as soon as you try to issue an order the game autopasues. It is also set on a grid which makes it more strategic and easier to set up flanking attacks and protect flanks. I'll leave the player to make more comments but this gives an idea of the type of gameplay.
