MAC/Apple?
Will the downloaded game work on a MAC running the latest version of OS, or is it PC only?

Thats a shame Keithkeithmartinsmith wrote:The software we use to develop the game on Mac, PC and Linux. In fact it is native to Mac's. So we are looking at a Mac version. While it could be done on Linux there is a good chance that drivers will be a major issue its just too much extra effort for a very small market.
Sorry.
Keith

Not even going to try through 'Wine' (whine.....) as I have never had any luck with that app....

Keith. But I do understand from a practicality perspective. There are probably not many FOG users running Linux (I am one though!). I am going to try running WinXP via Virtualbox(app) on my Ubuntu(linux) laptop (wow thats a mouthful...
) and will try running Field of Glory that way and let you all know how I get on if you like.

I have successfully got Field of Glory running on my Linux laptop (albeit in a virtual windows environment). So I am happy

If anyone wants more details just ask away (PM or post here)...
Sorry... not trying to hijack the original thread.....

Argh. I bought the PC version and am having issues running it on my windows VM on my mac. If I knew there was a mac version. . . need a tester? A volunteer engineer?keithmartinsmith wrote:We have the Mac verison running in the office here as of today. Likely to be a few weeks of internal testing ahead. Mac users will be able to play PC users via multi-player.

Love to see how. I am having some issues using VMWare, but could always try under Virtual Box. Though I'd prefer a native mac version.Geos wrote:Hi all,Geos wrote:Thats a shame Keithkeithmartinsmith wrote:The software we use to develop the game on Mac, PC and Linux. I presume you are running the OS X client of Virtual Box. So I dont know whether that would be any different in how it handles its virtualisation when compared with the Linux client of Virtual Box.gudin wrote:

Anyway, all I needed to do was install Virtual Box, created and installed my Windows XP virtual system and then the recommended 'Guest Additions' (Virtual box was available from my ubuntu repository and guest additions was installed from 'within' virtual box).
After that Field of Glory installed the same as with in a native windows environment and ran straight away.
If you are using linux I can provide more details but I have never used MAC/OSX so my help is somewhat limited. But I had no problems with Virtual box and their help files/tutorials are great.

I run it under VMWare Fusion, but not parallels (haven't tried). Running under VMWare is a bit weird, because you only can see the map . . . none of the off-map detailed displays. So for example, I can tell that my unit is Cavalry, but I have no idea if it's average, superior, or how they are armed. Luckily, I play the miniatures game, so I can look there and make an educated guess.Aethelwulf wrote:What about MAC version?
And... Anyone Knows if FoG runs correctly on Parallels 4.0 virtualization?
Thanks...
I'd be ECSTATIC if there were a native Mac version (or an iPhone version).
