Cant Install Troy - Insufficient disk space? Rubbish

Post by jake »

After Install Shield Wizard has run, I select the agreement of licencing terms and select 'Next'. I get a message saying 'there is not enough space to install these options'.

I have plenty of space available. Have you got any idea what's wrong?

Thanks

Which version do you have, and where did you purchase it from?

Are you installing to drive C? IIRC there was a bug in Installshield where it checks the drive (C at the time) before it asks you where to install it....

If you are installing to a drive other than C, you can try making space on C, then installing to the other drive (it won't GO to C) then moving the stuff back.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply.

I bought Gates Of Troy (don't know how to find out any more about which version) at PC World yesterday.

The required spec says 500mb and I have over 600mb on my C: drive anyway. I would like to install it to my E: (space available over 4GB) which is where I store my Games but I don't get the opportunity to select where to install it to as I can't get past the Licence Agreement screen before the 'not enough space message' appears.

Are you saying that there was a bug in Installshield? If so, can I download a patch to get around this then?

Thanks again, in advance of your kind response.

Hi Jake,

unfortunately the bug is Installshield itself, not the game and there is no way to patch it. If you can temporarily move some files from C to E to make room and then install Gates of Troy, it will give the option to put it on the E drive. You can them move the files back to C afterwards. Windows uses a large amount of the disk space on C (usually) for page files, and this could be why it says it is out of memory on C, even though you have 600 MB reported free. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Did you buy this in the UK?
