Flank shots

I have a bow armed BG, infront of me i have a BG in column, almost a perfect target. He then moves a bit forward and a weel. The rest of the column take place behind the heading base, and now i have nothing in front of me, this ir right?? The bases should not follow the path??

ie Ps1, Ps, Ps, Ps, Ps, Ps

Bw, Bw, Bw, Bw, Bw. and Ps1 moves ahead the column and weels

then it ends his move like this??

Not clear from the ASCII art, but if they are in a column, should they remain kinked (and therefore in front of you) until they expand?

Of course, if the LF had enough move to clear the front of the Bw, they should be able to move and expand to escape your shooting.

No, you can expand with a simple advance after, but you can't expand with a simple advance before. (unlike turns)

However, they could move off to the left without wheeling, then turn left.

Point taken, but in the example, it would not matter whether the LF expanded first or last, both would place them out of bowshot.

If by "turn left" you mean face 90, I suspect that would leave them exposed to bowshot, because their former column tail would still be in front of the archers.

If the BG was 2 bases wide they could do it. Moving a bit less than 5 inches.
I 2 base wide BG travels 4.45 inches in a 90 degree wheel so they could move 1mm forwards so the front of the PS clears the Bw side edge. then wheel just more than 4.45 inches so slightly angle to your bow so they could get two shots in reply ot your 1
