Field of glory V3 rules question

Post by Bobsebotka05 »

Hi a question about contacting a fresh unit after a pursuit? My cavalry was contacte by one stand of heavy foot offensive spear. So in the next bound we did an impact phase charge attack. So the question is, does the spearmen get to step a second ɓase forward? And if so do I have to turn my whole battle group? Reason for asking is from a purely random diceroll, I was told I had to turn to face which disadvantaged me because the cavalry battle group i was aiming to engage then charged me in the side. Would the original contact have been 3 dice apiece, 5 to 3's in spearmen favour, but allow me to charge the cavalry i was facing off against? Thanks in advance.
Bob.

If I recall correctly, it depends. Based on what you wrote, it appears that the next turn is your turn. If that is the case then in your maneuver phase you would conform to the spear which could possibly open up a flank charge in your opponents next impact phase.

However, if you pursued in your melee phase, then in the next impact phase (which is your opponents) there is no conforming (as conforming occurs in the maneuver phase). He would only get a flank charge on you if he started behind your flank.

As for stepping forward, if he is in a position to step forward on you, you were in a position to step forward on him. Stepping forward happens in the impact phase. If the next impact phase is your phase, you would step forward any bases that can that meet the requirements (p. 39). He could not step forward in your impact phase. If the impact phase was his, then he could step forward as long as he meets the requirements (again p.39). If this is only possible if you conform to him, then neither one of you could step forward as as conforming occurs in the maneuver phase (p.52).

A picture would have been helpful here. Hopefully this helps.
