Editor help-PLEASE

Let me apologize up front, I must have suddenly become very dense. After looking through all the explanations of how to use the editor I am more confused than before I started. I found every single explanation very confusing and unclear. It would be nice to use the editor.

I have the Slitherine version 1.12, and it works fine. But after following several instructions on this forum the game would either not start, or not load an edited scenario. I have done a clean install up to v. 1.12. Can anyone give a clear description of what to do to get edited games to work?
