I just purchased MHCEAW Gold , and I am having two problems. First, sometimes the dos window just hangs there, and I have to restart the game. Second,
the game has crashed back to desktop several times...mostly when I start clicking to cycle through the different map views. I am running windows vista
64 home premium, with a duo core pentium 2.6 ghz processor, direct x 10, and an nvidia geforce 8600 GTS graphics card. I have tried 3 ways in the compatibility mode: (1) just administrator checked, (2) Just Windows XP service pack 2 checked, and (3) with both boxes checked. So Far, I have not received any error messages any of the times I crashed back to desktop. I really don't know if any error messages happened on the couple of times that the dos box just hanged there....because I just restarted the game from scratch. I really don't know what to do to fix the problems. Your homepage support link instructed me to send my e-mails to the forum, instead of Slitherine...So I am doing as instructed. From what little I have so far seen of the game...it seems a lot like panzer general, and I really liked the series back in its day. Also, what time the game was running...There were no flickers, slow-down,
graphic glitches or anthing else. This puzzles me, because when I had compatibility problems with a couple of other games, Things would go bad right away, and once a message even came up that said there may be a compatibility issue with this software. I saw none of this with this game. I need help.
PS ( I am sorry for originally posting this in the wrong part of the forum....Thanks)

I have tried just about everything I know, and this one has got me totally baffled. Granted, I bought a new computer, and now I have vista 64, instead of windows. However, It didn't take me long to get the hang of the operating system...because I am extremely computer literate. I have did dxdiag.exe diagnostics, I have checked all device manager software dependencies, I have did an extensive javascript workthrough, including clean installs of all updates, I have even done a complete registry and .dll file intregrity check with a good program. To make a long story short, I have already spent more of my time trying to crack this one....than the game is worth. I fully understand that Forums can be good sources of help and support.....because of input
from Administrators, who know the software pretty well, and are therefore in a better position to give good advise. I do appreciate this. However, I also
blame myself too. I thoroughly checked this forum, other forum posts, and other web sources, and it appeared that the game was capable of running
on vista 64....so I went ahead and purchased it. It appears now...at least in my case with my system and installed software.....that the game is not really
compatible with vista 64. At least, not compatible, in the sense that it is more trouble than 30 bucks is worth, to try to make it compatible. It is kind of surprising to me that a company would make a complete overhaul of a game, put it out there now...when vista and windows 7 are the majority, and windows xp is the minority, and probably soon to end up alongside windows 95, 98, etc........and not already have it ready for the systems of today.
In that sense, I feel that I wasted 30 bucks needlessly. I suppose it should have raised a red flag to me when I found out that Slitherine itself won't even field support problems, and instead...leaves customers with no other recourse but forums. Don't get me wrong....forums do serve good purposes, but
when it comes to support.....I prefer the straight-up me and the company approach, because when I buy someone's product, and invest my hard-earned
money, and have a problem....I expect to deal with the company itself, and not forums. I liken that approach to This: " my car is in need of repair, I take it to a shop, I pay them to fix it, and then they say:"Well, sir.....you need to try this. or maybe that". I'm sorry, but that is just not how I feel about this.
Yes, there is probably a snowball chance getting my money back. However, (1) Slitherine should solve its own customer service problems in a
customer friendly way....directly....and not through their subordinants in some forum, and (2) they should not put out, and advertise a product as "New" and "enhanced"....when it fails to perform on the "New" and "Enhanced" operatiing systems of today. Yes, I am long-winded, but this is, afterall a forum, and no one's arm is twisted to read this...much less reply to it. However, those of you on this forum who are "Administrators" should be obligated to respond, because, I was referred to you by Sitherine itself. Anyway, since they more or less passed the buck on customer service to you guys, I feel that You should inform me as to how you intend or don't intend to resolve this issue.

The forums are the direct conduit to Slitherine support. They are read and responded to directly by people like me. As I did to your issue. We are happy to try and help fix these issues, a good first step would be to post the contents of the error log when you have a crash or starting hang.
You don't say whether you have tried the various steps in the troubleshooting sticky.
As you state, many games have issues with Vista 64, mainly because the drivers are a lot more immature for the 64 bit versions of both Vista and XP.
Cheers
