oh so slow

just installed on a new PC (hoping it would run a bit faster) and it now goes ever so slowly, any idea's (looking for something obvious before getting to technical).

don't have the exact machine specs with me but its xp with plenty of everything!

Just what is slow? I find the opening of the game, the loading, can be jerky and slow, with sound cutting in and out...but once the game is up and in, it seems fine.

loads fast now (on new machine), its the playing thats really slow (and I mean slow) it can take 40 seconds for a unit to move
