Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards remarks
Will we have real Soviet commanders' portaits at the beginning of the campaign ?
Re: Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards remarks
Kind of reminds me of this situation... An intended historical reference?terminator wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:36 pm Will we have real Soviet commanders' portaits at the beginning of the campaign ?

Thats odd, because including the 2 generic anonymous ones there's 14 Russian commander images.terminator wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:36 pm Will we have real Soviet commanders' portaits at the beginning of the campaign ?

I can confirm I've got the same issue, forgot to mention it in my reply. So it does not seem to be coincidental. Not that this image is then used anywhere, but still.Patrick Ward wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:48 pmThats odd, because including the 2 generic anonymous ones there's 14 Russian commander images.terminator wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:36 pm Will we have real Soviet commanders' portaits at the beginning of the campaign ?

I have the same issue; the man in the first photo is Nicolaj Ezov, right?

12 german, 5 great britain, 6 italien, 13 polish and 9 us.
Condor legion(SCW DLC) is still broken since Westwall DLC, when u changed the way the portraits are adressed.

Indeed, that is one of the most famous examples of old photo editing in the purges era to erase the presence of individuals the government wanted to wipe out of memory. Kind of felt similar to how the images of commanders in the game suddenly went missing.

My first hero portrait was blank, like the post above, but now images show for all of them. Perhaps there was an update since yesterday?

While it is being fixed, maybe allow modders access to edit/change the files it references?

First mission : LESSONS OF WAR (Spain, March 1937)
Very good first scenario, note that I completed it 10 turns before the allotted time by completing all the objectives :

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards remarks
Hmm, i finished the DLC 10 minutes ago /generalissimus) and to be honest i have mixed feelings.
Positive:
i loved the civil war scenario - it made me quite nostalgic
and i think ill start a new spanish civil war full playthrough for the AO
It was fun to play with soviet hardware on the soviet side!
It was new content for PC2 - so i appreciate it
Hero selection was quite cool - i like it to choose hero traits
Neutral:
Difficulty felt strange. The start was tough so i had to restart the DLC 2 times to alter my approach, but 3 missions in it became way to easy - if i ever play that DLC again (and im not sure) ill try something tougher heroselection wise
Negatives (sorry):
- It was way to short. With only 9 missons and massive "timehops" there is no core army feeling for me, no development nothing. for me its felt like playing 9 diffrent scenarios....and i dont like playing single scenarios...
- 1st guards fought in many more greater battles...it feels incomplete...and like wasted potential
I finished the allies mission and felt...hm sad ? frustrated ? I never (!) felt bad after finishing a DLC before...

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards remarks
The short length and time skips are an expected situation for the series. There's maybe some middle ground where you could combine approach of "Frontlines" where a specific campaign is represented with "Elite" to make it follow a single unit more closely. That said, rarely did one unit fight the entire war unchanged Guards units fought many battles, but when I was doing some of my research, the units in question were often the same just by name, having many re-formations over the course of the war due to losses, or sometimes even getting beaten to the point of having to be created form fresh troops for the most part. German units were more often the same ones, but that was both later out of desperation and still personnel attrition was high - even 7th Panzer campaign shows that in a time skip after Moscow, when the division took almost entire 1942 off for rearming and new recruits. With this campaign it is even more visible. First there's the International brigade, then various tanks brigades, then quickly put together units that started to earn their Guards titles, and even further, more units that had time to be better prepared and equipped, but still were in the process of earning their name while often getting almost wiped out, like the 24th Tank Corps. I will need to finish the DLC to figure out how I feel about this and to see upcoming scenarios in person, but if what you wrote and what some other users wrote is true about this being more of a mix of different units with the Guards name, then I could see how the argument of a more focused approach gets raised. I might be biased by the way how I play this series out since 7th Panzer, but we shall see, I am curious how things will continue in this campaign for me. Still reserving final thoughts until then.Bee1976 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 12:34 am - It was way to short. Cam Path Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards ?
Will we have a Cam Path for this new DLC as it was the case with the previous one (viewtopic.php?t=118297) ?
Re: Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards remarks
I cant exactly tell - it was 2 evenings but i had to restart the DLC and change my approach. So i would guess maybe about 14 hours ?terminator wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:49 amApproximately, how many hours of play are needed to finish this DLC ?
