85th Dunkirk Anniversary Week

Post by scorehouse »

the English annually commemorate the event by sailing flotilla of small craft boats across the Channel to the same beaches to honor the event and the rescue of over 330,000 troops that lived to fight another day especially in North Africa

Battle of Dunkirk

The German army was to halt for three days, which gave the Allies sufficient time to organise the Dunkirk evacuation and build a defensive line. While more than 330,000 Allied troops were rescued, the British and French sustained heavy casualties and were forced to abandon nearly all their equipment; around 16,000 French and 1,000 British soldiers died during the evacuation.
