FoG: Kingdoms (Slitherine) + FoG II: Medieval (GoG) possible?

Hello! I'm considering buying FoG: Kingdoms using an anniversary discount coupon. Some time ago, I acquired Field of Glory II: Medieval + DLCs in GOG.

My question is: Can I then connect FoG: Kingdoms bought in Slitherine with FoG II: Medieval bought in GoG? (without having to manually save and load the game, battle results, etc.)

It should work cross-store, absolutely. You need to run and exit each game once before you try and have them link, but it should all work correctly.
