I finally was able to start playing Battlesector in early December and I'm playing in the post Astra Milit release tournament. Previously I played the hell out of Sanctus Reach and miss some of the features.
Why is there no way to communicate with opponents in head to head play? In Sanctus Reach messages could be sent between players and contributed to a better community of opponents. I can't find anyway to message my opponent in the tournament and I miss this feature.
In Sanctus Reach there was destructible terrain and friendly fire which is not present in Battlesector and I miss it.
I appreciate the Battlesector Hot-seat feature available to play against opponents at home on the same system, but why couldn't it have fog of war?
Whay are all units visible in range even if they are completely concealed behind walls or structures that would hide their presence because not in direct sight?
Sanctus Reach is an amazing tactical battle sim. Battlesector is also awesome but it's missing some great features. Are any of the things I mentioned in the works for an update, especially in-game messaging?

There is a chat feature in Battlesector, although it is not obvious. On the right side of the screen there is a small text bubble. You click on that, and it brings up a text chat window. I tried sending messages in the current tournament but have yet to get a response. Maybe this is why! I am used to playing FOGII where the chat comes up first automatically.Fubarno wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:14 pm I finally was able to start playing Battlesector in early December and I'm playing in the post Astra Milit release tournament. I wonder if they tried to make Battlesector more like tabletop where you see all the units and I believe you can shoot through your own units (not sure on this one as a few editions have gone by since I last played!).
BTW if you are interested in a game send me a PM.

"Whay are all units visible in range even if they are completely concealed behind walls or structures that would hide their presence because not in direct sight?" : Also being able to hear sound of enemies when they are not in line of sight is annoying. Didn't play sanctus reach but if that game implements fog of war mechanics better im going for it, I don't care about shinny graphics.Fubarno wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:14 pm I finally was able to start playing Battlesector in early December and I'm playing in the post Astra Milit release tournament. Sanctus Reach is a great little wargame. Those huge robots with the larger battles were fantastic to see. I do recommend this game. We got four races in the end.

There is now a hotseat mod for sanctus reach if you still have any interest in playing it (scroll to the bottom of the last page to grab latest). https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116159Fubarno wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:14 pm I appreciate the Battlesector Hot-seat feature available to play against opponents at home on the same system, but why couldn't it have fog of war?

It does implement fog of war, so you can't see your opponents models when it's your turn if your units lose LOS.
The mod also lets you combine certain allies together, such as Space Wolves and Guard, and has the Night Lords as a new legion to try.
As a side note, for those that don't know, if you have two computers at home on the same LAN you can use various streamers to virtually share the game so you don't need to physically sit at the same computer. I typically use moonlight/sunshine - I like it because it's very simple to set up and use.
