Looking to play PBEM

Hi all, rookie here.

How do I join an existing PBEM++ game? The available ones are all password-protected. Do I need to contact the challenge owners?

I know I could also add my own challenge, but quite a few of the existing ones look good to me, so I'm inclined to join one of those first.
