HF unprotected offensive spears

Post by Moro »

Are there?

Early and Late Picts have MF unprotected offensive spears, but is there some army which have HF unprotected offensive spears? (It would be better have defensive spears, but it looks even more a strange combination!

Thanks
Andrea

just thinking about something strange to deploy on the field... obviously with as many as possible BGs!

Moreover, a good mix of MF and HF undrilled unprotected defensive spears are probably better than MF undrilled unprotected light spears-swordmen! :)

The UN-ARMY!
Light Spear and Swordsman work in every condition and with every amount of losses for your BG.
With Defensive spearman you're weaker in charging and if you have losses or severe morale or terrain disgregation.

If you are unprotected I think you have to charge with good skills, unless you want to take more and more shooting

I tried lots of MF unprotected light spear swordsmen in one comp. The down sides are the sword not counting against steady spear (so you are -- vs most spearmen in melee) and needing to pass a CMT to charge disrupted (which you often need to do against a shooty enemy, even LF).

I would think unprotected offensive spear (MF or HF) would be much better value than unprotected light spear sword as they will often fight at evens in melee, even against knights or skilled sword legionaries, and can more easily charge missile troops.

I agree with you, I was comparing them with defensive spearmen (Sumerian) and not offensive spearmen

Well, if it's unprotected HF Offensive Spearmen you want, try Feudal Scots, 32-142 of them in BGs of 6-10 ....
