One of the more unusual umpiring duties, wandering around offering the players sun cream

I learnt a lot umpiring. You start at page 108 and go from there. Always works...

We must do more international tournament, because it's also an occasion to learn how to play better this good game.
Perhaps to go in GB one far away time and win a tournament

There is always Britcon next month in Manchester. Easy to get to from the airport, six games and a pub quiz on Satruday night.

Britcon is one game on Friday night starting between 6:00pm and 9:00pm to allow for late arrivals. Three games on Saturday, then time to grab some food before the wargamers pub quiz which starts at 10:30pm, the bar closes at 1:00am or therabouts. Two more games on Sunday.

There are a decent number of trade stands and many offer deals to Britcon attendees.

If you can't make it this year I would recommend you keep your diary free for the next one.

Me too I'd like to come to Britcon one time .................. but in August there are holidays in Italy.
Why not moving Britcon to September next year?

The main problem is availability of venues. Britcon is held at a University and August is a time when the Students aren't there. I think a move to September is unlikely.

There is also the problem of the calender. Everybody knows it would be suicide to put on a show in August in the UK as Britcon is so big. Therefore August is free, however when we look at September

6th Northern League Doubles
5th/6th International Team Challenge
5th/6th Colours (Show)
26th/27th SoA Doubles

Therefore fairly crowded. The organisers of above events would be exceptionally angry if their event was suddenly scuppered by moving Britcon.

...and if you moved it out of the school holidays I (and other teachers) wouldnt be able to go - which may or may not be an inducement to move it.

Well, I blame Guglielmo (or Gug / Bill / Marlia as he is referred to - could somebody please give a definitive answer as to what he prefers to be called?)

I was quite happy going along slaughtering some peasants in the last game, when Guglielmo had the cheek to throw an 11 and kill one of my general's. This directly resulted in four BG's breaking... If they hadn't then......

Richard - you will have to fix the Dominate Romans

Incidentally, I played Tim and drew 10-10 so don't have a problem with the army, but to those not expecting it lot's of BG's of four of Drilled, Armoured MF can come as quite a shock...

Given the amount that has been written about the Dom Roms in the last 12 months those not expecting it should amount to an undiscovered small tribe in the Amazon and a stray dog just outside Novgorod

Many thanks for a very well organized tournament, a pleasant venue, excellent opposition and an all round good time from Team Sweden!

Also, a very big thanks to our Italian friends for arranging the whole thing - this was certainly one of the nicest wargaming events I've attended. Finally, I was very happy indeed to receive the award for the best painted army!

6 isn't that many? OK, its one more than the number of legions, but its not 9....

thats why its MLMB Dom Roms, not MB Dom Roms
