Editor crashing after configuring AI scripts

Post by Flayer »

I've used the editor a few times to create simple "capture all victory hexes" or "kill all units" scenarios, but I'm running into a problem now that I'm trying to do something a little more sophisticated. My scenario seemed to be working fine right up until I began configuring the enemy units and setting scripts for them to follow. Once I did, the editor now crashes consistently whenever trying to save or launch this specific scenario. In spite of this, my changes to the scenario do appear to have been saved successfully; it will reopen with them even after exiting and relaunching the entire game. The scenario can be launched successfully through the game's main menu; however, upon playtesting the AI controlled units all sit in place passively and do not follow their scripts (although they do engage once I actually drive right up to them).

So I believe some of the behaviors I've assigned must be incompatible with one another and causing the scenario to glitch; I'm just not exactly sure which ones, and hoping to save myself a couple hours of trial and error by asking if any of these are known issues.

The scenario's objectives are kill all units. I've set up four different teams of enemy units. Each time has one unit designated the leader and given a script of Move to coordinates X;Y, followed by Hunter, to attack the player after reaching that destination. Each leader has a group of follower units, which have been scripted as Hunter and set to Guard Unit on the leader (with a 4 hex allowance). I'm hoping this will result in four separate battle groups which attack from different directions. There is also one more unit I've assigned a stationary Patrol in one hex for a 12 turn duration, followed by a Hunter command. That is intended to be a final boss that joins the battle late in the game.

Are any of these commands incompatible with one another as combinations? One other possibility is that I've set up my guard commands wrong. In the blank box where it says unit, I've simply entered the ID number the game assigns them, i.e. "52". Is that correct? Do I need to put in something else? I'd appreciate the help if anyone might know what's going on here.

this is probably it. remove the number and click on the unit u want it to guard while the cursor is in the empty box.
