Turning to Face

Post by TERRYFROMSPOKANE »

Page 56 says bases contacted to the side by an enemy flank charge are immediately turned provided they are not already in frontal contact with the enemy.

The diagram on page 86 shows cavalry and light cavalry charging both flanks of enemy infantry. The right rear infantry base has turned to face the cavalry but the left rear infantry base has not turned to face. Shouldn't this rear base have turned to face the enemy light cavalry?

If so, during the Movement Phase would the light cavalry shift to their right to conform, thus losing contact with infantry base "B" and allowing enemy infantry bases "A" to fight as an overlap in the Melee Phase?

I realize the diagram is illustrating a different point. I ask the question not to criticize the diagram but because this situation and ones like it occur fairly often.

It depends how rthey got there though. They could have been an overlap and turned 90 in which case they would still face forward. If the LH was a flank charge then yep I think the rear one would be turned.

Terry? Richard?
