FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
This year the FoGR competition at Milton Keynes is still 25mm but reverts to a one-day event on the Saturday 11 May only. A minimum of 8 players / 4 tables is required to run this. This year, to offer more flexible payment methods and to give me visibility on entrants I will collate payment. However, I am on holiday during early May.
Please book and submit army lists early.
Renaissance players may be also interested in a 25mm demonstration game being presented on the following day. In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the founding of Burton and District wargamers the club recently refought the Battle of Sceneffe 1674 in an all-day 15mm event.
We will be reprieving this battle from the Franco-Dutch War in 25mm at the Centre MK on Sunday 12 May 2024.
Competition details as listed below
FoGR at Campaign 2024 at Milton Keynes - 25mm ‘Big Toys’ open.
* Date: Sat 11 May 2024. Venue: Middleton Hall, centre:mk, Milton Keynes
* List checker will be me. Lists to ray_boyles@hotmail.com required by 25 April 2024
* 700 Points in 25mm open, i.e. any list at any date.
* Table size 6' x 4'. Camps can be reduced to half normal depth, if preferred by the player.
* Distances 40mm per MU apart from 12" flank zones, initial deployment zones and terrain sizes
* We will use all amendments and Army list/points revisions published to date.
Special rules:
* Medium & Heavy artillery must be in the first batch and may not be deployed able to fire into the flank zones.
* Cavalry that pass a CMT can either move 2MU and turn 180 or turn 180 and move 2MU or turn 180 move 2MU and turn back 180.
* Dragoons when making any move, including evade, starting or ending within 6MU of the enemy may make a full dragoon mounted move if they pass a CMT. Dragoons who make such a move may shoot as carbines (range and POA). They are assumed to be firing from horseback or to have dismounted so quickly that they cannot shoot as effectively.
Will use one new rule revision as per current OWS FOGR Sunday events
* For foot, other than LF or dragoons, to enter the flank sector at all a CMT will be required. To make any movement other than those required by the rules while in the flank sector, even if only partly in or to leave the sector, will require a CMT. Once a CMT has been failed in a given bound no further CMTs may be attempted that bound.
Note two specific army amendments:
1) Swedish salvo muskets may not fire at long range, but their regimental guns may still fire at 6MU.
2) From 1592 Japanese Samurai and Ashigaru teppo troops with ‘arquebus’ can alternatively fire as bow at short or long range if 1 extra point is paid. This is to reflect mixed formations; all or none.
* 3 games each of 2.5 hours

Re: FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
Ray,
Is it exactly 700 points or can you go over by the cost of the cheapest base in your army?
Only asking as I am supplying Jerry with his army.

Re: FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
Bob,
Thanks. I am happy to incorporate going over by the cost of the cheapest base in your army.
This is now fairly standard on smaller point events e.g. at Oxford, so it should not be an issue.
I will add this to the next email I send.

Re: FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
Ray,
I have several choices for my army. Do you want to get a wide spread in the competition? If so I am happy for you to choose which I use. I have in mind the following:
Italian Wars French
Swiss
Early Henry VIII
ECW Royalist, Parliament, Scots Royalist or New Model

Re: FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
Ray,
Thanks.
Jerry will be using TYW French. I will send you his list then once you have approved it I will give him the army.
I can also lend an Irish army, possibly another TYW army and even an Italian Wars army.
Let me know if anyone wants to borrow them.
Bob

Re: FoGR at Campaign Saturday 11 May 2024
Hi Tom, good of you to ask. So far I only know the details for two armies (including my own) which are C17th. Bare with me while I get a sense of the spread. In the absence of any other factor, I would think about which is the most attractive from a public viewing POV. Thanks Raytjelsworth wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:27 pm Ray,

Tom,
Well done to both you and Simon.
You must have had a great deal of luck to come second with your early Henrician English army as the others would have been shooting to bits.
