Hello,
I appreciate the fact that the strategy map is introduced while the game loads, the thing is the map does not hold a lot of value because no information is provided about the starting point nor the points of interests.
So my suggestion will be to add more elements so that the players can put in place their plans before the game.
The game has a lot of potential, thanks for the good work done.
Best Regards

Re: Strategy Map feedback
Agree, the current map could be more informative. Adding starting points and key locations would definitely help players strategize.
We'll look into improvements for the next update. Appreciate your kind words and playing!

Re: Strategy Map feedback
First of all a lot of players dont know that there is Slitherine forum on which they can post their thoughts on game so dont think just because 3 users have commented on this post that introduction of tactical map is not a big deal in this game...I think Broken Arrow is the only well developed rts game in history of gaming BUT i think it can get even better if developers would consider introducing tactical map into the game...Introduction of tactical map would establish a second layer of the game which could be used for communication and strategy while playing multiplayer matches.
Last Beta testing, and the map we had was not well conceived, why ?
1 - It was conceived as as a microsoft paint and as soon as you give new players such a freedom of course everyone is going to draw human genitals on it and in matter of seconds they would overwhelm the map with their drawings.(which is what happened in 90 % of cases)
2 - we could only use map in the first minute or two before match started so majority of players dont know the maps, dont even know what they are going to encounter, where they are going to spawn. There wasnt any kind of starting information that we could refer to in order to even start forming the strategy, there was no way of communicating with other players via chat so it was all very pointless, the map seemed like it was imported in the last seconds before the beta was about to be droped out for testing.(which is ok, no hard feelings)
As much as the map conception was wrong i think it could still be used to players advantage and as a communication platform if we were able to open it up during the match, any time we wanted...i think it would show us all how certain communication platform, that is conceived around the strategic map of the battlefield, can be valuable to players.
In the next couple of lines i will suggest, in a rough form, possible conception of tac map for BA and how it could be considered from a developer and user perspective.
My opinion is this : we shouldnt have map at the introduction phase to the match, but when we finally enter the match we should all have option to open our tactical map, and to be able to do so whenever we want...that tactical map should consist of picture of battlefield on wich we can see real time positions and movements of all friendly units and there should be text chat on the side where we can communicate with our teammates, map should be interactive so if we want we can deploy units by clicking on the map itself, there should be or dont have to be names of certain POI in the map,And in order to mark things on map we should have on our disposal certain types of icons...something similar to tactical map in FPS game SQUAD (ofworld industries) : we shouldnt have much freedom (very important, no drawing just icons)
move icon
defense icon
attack icon
observe icon
danger icon
But thats not all, we should maby have red icons for enemy units(infantry, armor, air, artilery) so we can approximately and together as a team, with time, form the possible enemy line and possible units in the certain areas and it would serve as as alert icons so we can inform our mates of advancing enemy units or hidden enemy units and to be able to know what is possible structure of those enemy units.
So maby we should be able to put only two instances of these marks so we dont overwhelm the map but these icons must stay, and not dissapear in 5 seconds becasue whats the point then ?
Besides the icons we should have abilty to draw up to 5 instances of arrows whose lenght we can determine, and that would be used for conceiving our tactics and axis of advance, 2 colors, one for friendly designation and one color for drawing enemy axis of advance.
This can be refurbished into awesome, tactical, technical, geometrical new layer of the game that would enable us players to communicate better, it would increase the player appreciation of the game, and maby we can think of some system of invitation or acceptance where at the beginning of the match we make requests and all players of the same team who accept the request become like a squad and we recieve new options regarding the tactical map where we can use these icons that i've mentioned above and so on, and ones who dont accept the request dont have to see our markings...something like that but i think its a great opportunity for Broken Arrow to implement all the mechanics that would make it a brutal game(which it already is)...but this implementation would leave no room for anyother RTS game to surpass it.
EDIT: i could go more in depth in the possible conception but i just wanted to write this down roughly because i think it could rly be PLUS if we manage to get the interactive tac map in the BA. it would be awesome additional layer to the game IMO, but if conceived properly, in techical manner as a BA was conceived in the first place.
