Afrika Korps questions.

Post by stormbringer3 »

How many SE units can you get? Also, is there a defined schedule like in the Grand Campaign, two in 1939 one in 1940 etc. or can you possibly get one every new scenario until you reach the limit? I've search for this but couldn't find specific answers.
Thanks.

I think I only got 1 SE unit in the entire campaign, but the battles tend to be smaller with fewer units - for example, at El Alamein you could deploy 28 units. As for a defined schedule, I'm not sure what you mean? The campaign follows the actual battles of the time, starting March 1941 through to 1943 I think, but there are some "What if...?" scenarios that take place later should you win scenarios that in reality the Axis lost. Hope that helps. I really enjoyed the AK campaign as it had a lot of variation and would definitely recommend it. As I'm sure you know, the tree is available in the library, but I've posted it here anyway:

Hope that helps.

Max bonus units are defined for each scenario.
Eg Gazala Line has a limit of 3 bonus units.
British India (final ahistorical scenario) has a limit of 5 bonus units.
Those limits only apply for the random generation of bonus units at scenario start, you can deploy more if you already have them.
So if you only have 2 bonus units at Gazala, there is a chance your randomly get a third one.
If you have 4 bonus units at Gazala (through cheat codes or editing scenarios), you will not randomly get another one at scenario start, but you can deploy all 4.
longer, alternative "PG" like Campaign new version 0.34 from 2011.08.02 (another bugfix & now in zip format)

Thanks for the replies. Where can I find the max bonus units per scenario info? I'm currently playing Brevity and have two, so I'm trying to know the scenarios when 3,4,and 5 become available.
Thanks.

Open the scenario with the scenario editor.
Then go to Edit => Scenario Params...
In the Scenarnio Params it is under Sides => Max elite units

Thanks for the above but I couldn't figure it out. I'm not very computer literate. Perhaps someone could tell me the name of the scenario where you can go to 3,4 and 5 bonus units. I've spent a lot of time looking through a lot of threads and this is the only campaign where I couldn't find the specific info on when you get the ability to gain another bonus unit.

Recon in Force 1
Brevity 3
Tunisian Bridgehead 4

Recon in Force 1
Brevity 3
Persia 4
On Road to India 5

Those are the scenarios where max bonus units increase from previous level.
So Recon in Force and Ras el Mdauuar both have limit of 1, Brevity and following have 3 (until Tunisian Bridgehead for historical path and Persia for non historical path).

Or you could play Afrika Korps with my Addon mod, which does not use any bonus units for Africa and thus allows a lot more variety and choice.
First time PzC modding is not easy, but the install instructions of the Addon main post link a very detailed step-by-step preparation guide, which makes it just tedious instead of difficult: https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106547
