Figures for 9th century AD Alans

Post by lawrenceg »

Does anyone make figures suitable for 9th century AD Alans (both lancers and horse archers)? Most figures I've seen described as Alans are in "Late Imperial Roman" period ranges (so pre-stirrup).

After being subjected to Huns, Avars, Turks etc, would the Alans still look anything like their 4th century ancestors or would they adopt the styles of each wave of invaders as they came through?

There is precious little evidence. Best guess is that they adopt the generic fashion of the day. So those in the Caucasus, Central Asian armour and Turkic horse furniture; those in Europe, a mix of armour styles and Roman/Germanic horse furniture.

I have some Khurassan minis that are very nice. They are in the Alan/Sarmatian range.
