I just downloaded it today...I am using windows XP...I had no problem running the demo so I dont think its my laptop...im not to sure of specs...all I know is that I have a gig of ram.pipfromslitherine wrote:If you downloaded it recently, I imagine that it is already patched, so that won't help.
Can you see whether it generated an error log. It should be in My Documents\CEAW if I remember correctly.
Please also provide your system specs and operating system.
Cheers

Hmmm - I would try taking a look at some of the threads here, there are some solutions described there. One is setting your desktop to 1024x768 (only for the first run) which seems to fix some issues.
Beyond that, if you can find the error log file and copy in the last 10 or 20 lines to a post here it might help.
Cheers

The error.log should be in the folder where you INSTALLED the game , not in the Documents/
Does your laptop support 1024x768, can you as Phil said try set the resolution to 1024x768 manually before game is run.
Also in Documents/CEAW and Docuements/CEAW Fast Play
are settings.txt files
try set "WINDOW MODE 1" and save the settings.txt and run the game again, it might be you have trouble going to full screen.
Is your laptop setup to run dual screens such as you have Windows shown on laptop but also on TV/Projector?
You bought the game form this site so game should cost ~$30 not $20.
Furtermore, the 1.12 is the latest patch and is just a zip file, what patch did you try and run?
You shoudl not patch the game if you bought it from Slitherine or Matrixgames since we already haev the latest version.

Find the settings.txt file (in My Documents\CEAW) and open in notepad. Add the line
WINDOW MODE 1
and then save the file, it should try and make the game run in a window next time you run.
Is it possible that an antivirus program might be preventing the game from running correctly? Do you have the latest drivers for your video card? Were you able to find the error log in the installation directory - it might shed some light on the problem.
Cheers

Might be safer to just edit the "WINDOWED_MODE 0" to "WINDOWED_MODE 1" instead of adding a new line.

You say the demo worked fine for you. Was that right before you purchased, or some time ago? Just trying to see whether there might have been a windows update between the two.
If you have the latest drivers for you graphics card, etc, and it's not an antivirus problem, then Johan is going to need to get some more information about what is going on I imagine.

Both those settings.txt file need to be edited where it says "WINDOWED_MODE 0", to "WINDOWED_MODE 1" instead. Save that file and retry again. Let me know if you did not find the settingg.txt file pls.
